OVERVIEW & PURPOSE
Students will explore creating digital collages using Adobe Photoshop (or an alternative) to convey a message. Each student will select a piece of media (e.g., movie, TV show, book, song, etc.) and use online resources to create a digital collage. This project aims to encourage students to critically engage with the media they consume and use digital tools to visually express a message effectively.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Students will develop an understanding of how they can be active participants in their own art and in the interpretation of existing media.
Students will demonstrate their ability to create compelling digital collages using Adobe Photoshop (or an alternative software).
Students will practice using imagery and composition to convey a message effectively.
MATERIALS NEEDED
Adobe Photoshop (or alternative digital collage software)
Access to the internet
Tools like Pinterest, Google Chrome, or other image research sources
A computer or tablet with sufficient processing power

They will consider themes, emotions, and visual aesthetics relevant to their chosen media.
Research & Analysis
Students will research their selected media, analyzing visual elements, motifs, and key themes.
They will explore how they can use imagery, color, and composition to reinforce their intended message.
Students will then create a list of words or themes related to their selected media in order to have an idea of how to move on.
Gathering Materials
Students will collect images and assets from online sources to use in their collage.
They will also gather inspiration images and references for stylistic guidance.
Digital Collage Creation
Using Adobe Photoshop (or an alternative), students will begin layering and composing their collage.
They will experiment with blending modes, opacity, layering, and other digital techniques to create a cohesive composition.
