Art Journals allow students to reflect on themselves and their peers. By decorating them together, completing weekly reflections, and sharing their work, students can build community and foster connections.

Instead of spelling this out for them we investigated the theme Peer Relationships and Classroom Community/Discovery guided by the question: "How can we represent others, ourselves, and our community in different ways?"

Students were presented with 5 different prompts and a time limit to create a list about themselves! Things like interests, skills, and more played a part in this "introduction" to each student!

This activity had 4 different stations: clay, colored pencil, markers, and watercolor. They were instructed to create a representation of a different partner each time, for a total of 4 portraits. With one rule: you cannot have the same partner or medium twice.
